Celebrate different cultures with these festivals in Greater Vancouver!

 Check out great cultural events in Vancouver this summer!

 

One of the things we love the most about the lower mainland is how full of diversity it is! No matter our cultural differences, our communities love to come together and celebrate each other’s backgrounds, music, food, and more. This summer, there are plenty of events around Greater Vancouver that celebrate different cultures and ethnicities, while welcoming everyone to partake in the fun.
 

Philippine Days Festival on the North Shore | June 8-9

 

The annual Philippine Days Festival returns to North Vancouver’s Waterfront Park this June 8th and 9th! Just as the name suggests, this festival celebrates Philippine arts and cultural heritage in British Columbia with a traditional “Barrio Fiesta” atmosphere. Here you’ll find lots of Filipino cuisine, music, and dance performances. There will also be over 75 food and merchandise vendors from the Filipino community selling awesome and unique products and showcasing their businesses.

 

Italian Day on Commercial Drive | June 9

 

The famous Italian Day celebration is back on Commercial Drive June 9th. Leave the car at home - on this day, the roads of Commercial Drive close down and become a massive pedestrian walkway lined with booths and entertainment, where you can watch live music performances, play bocce, and of course try lots of incredible Italian food. The permanent businesses along The Drive will also be open and many will offer special deals for attendees of the celebration - so you can sit back and watch the fun from a patio with a nice Negroni when you need a break.
 

Greek Day on Broadway | June 23

 
Just like Italian Day on Commercial Drive, Greek Day shuts down the main stretch of Broadway in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood and transforms it into a pedestrian-friendly celebration of everything Greek! The event goes all day, from 11 am to about 9 o’clock at night, and features cooking demonstrations, traditional Greek folk dancing, a kids’ zone, and more. You can fill up on souvlaki and baklava while strolling around the blocks and pretend you are cruising around a traditional Greek market in the mediterranean.
